Why Join?

Joining the Kolob Canyon Review staff is a great way to be involved in the arts at Southern Utah University while building your professional skill set. Being an editor with KCR can offer you up to two (2) years of experience as a member of an ever-growing, award-winning literary magazine. In the fall, you'll be involved in an active call for submissions and in selecting work. In the spring, experience intensive piece and manuscript editing while working towards our annual launch party for the edition.

Branch out. You DO NOT need to be an English major to be part of the project. We want staff members that are self-motivated, collaborative, and willing to do some work.

Make industry connections. As our advisor likes to say, joining KCR will open doors in the literary community so that you "can have couches to sleep on everywhere." You'll join a staff of others with the same passion for creative work as you and have an opportunity to meet established authors and poets.

Lead projects. KCR should be something that can be on your resume, which is why we make sure that each staff member has a job beyond their regular duties as an editor. You'll be able to hone skills in social media, website management, event planning, advertising, and more.

Collaborate outside of your discipline. KCR works alongside members of the art and design department to create the edition. You'll have the opportunity to see the ins and outs of publication design and learn how to work with graphic designers.

Ready to Register?

All editing staff members are enrolled in ENGL 4970: Literary Journal Editing for the entire school year (fall and spring semesters). The class meets once per week on Wednesdays from 4:00-5:40 p.m.

While the course says there are prerequisites, our advisor doesn't believe in allowing this to prevent most students from participating in the project. Just get in touch and tell us a little about yourself.

Prerequisites can be waived through the "Permission to Add Course" resource in your MySUU portal. The course CRN will be required.

Questions? Concerns?

If you have any questions regarding being part of the project, please reach out to us through our contact form or email us directly at kolobcanyonreview @ gmail.com. We look forward to having you as part of our staff!
